ABS/NBS Karlsruhe – Basel / Müllheim – Schliengen and train station Müllheim
Line 4000, is a double-track, electrified main line from Karlsruhe to Basel, the Rheintalbahn. The two tracks handle the entire rail traffic of the north/south connection in long-distance, regional and local traffic as well as freight traffic.
Due to the high volume of traffic, the Rheintalbahn will be expanded to four tracks. Two new tracks will be built next to the existing Rheintalbahn at a distance of nine meters.
The work to be carried out to renew or convert the overhead contact line system covers Section 9 of the ABS/NBS Karlsruhe-Basel between the Müllheim (Baden) and Schliengen stations and the Müllheim station. The overhead line system will be designed for a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The project is scheduled to be implemented by August 2022.
